Ever wonder what it must be like behind those ornate gates along Lakeshore Boulevard? Ever wish you could wander through those secluded homes that look so lovely from what little you can see? Well here’s your chance! The AAUW, (American Association of University Women, Tahoe Nevada) is inviting you to take the Tahoe Treasures Tour, July 12, 2014, from 11 am to 4 pm. And because the tour is self-guided, you’ll have plenty of time to meander through the venues at your own pace.
The Tour consists of six stunning properties, including two breathtaking lakefront gardens complete with waterfalls, ponds and sculptures. Each of the homes offers unique treasures. Among them is a contemporary home with a wine cellar, media room, decorated in an eclectic style. Another lovely custom home, nestled in the pines, boasts an incomparable art collection with rare pieces from around the world. You’ll see a Lake Tahoe mountain style home with an open floor plan, touches of whimsy in the furnishings, and Western, Asian and local art collected by the owners during their travels. Also included is the Holman Arts & Media Center of Sierra Nevada College, where the creative process is at work in its galleries, labs and studios. All this and tea and tapas in the lakefront garden of the famous chateau known as the Castle on Lake Tahoe, where you can shop the Tahoe Treasures boutique and purchase raffle tickets for valuable prizes.
